The Colors of Tomorrowland

The Colors of Tomorrowland

This shot of Tomorrowland is pretty straight forward but also the result of me trying to mix up shots I’ve done in the past in a new way. I’ve shot from this location with the Nikon 14-24 2.8 ultra-wide before so I thought I’d give it a try with the Nikon 70-200 2.8. The shots are from the same spot but ultimately you get very different results. If you feel like your shots are getting stale its not a bad idea to switch lenses up to help freshen things up a bit.

Shooting & Editing The Color of Tomorrowland

This was shot with the Nikon D810 and Nikon 70-200 2.8. I used a single 30 second exposure as my base layer and then using luminosity masks masked in an underexposure to fix many of the blown highlights. I independently color balanced the sky and foreground and then made some additional levels adjustments using luminosity masks. I used Nik Color Efex Pro Contrast to add contrast and pop. I did some very broad dodging and burning and then finished off with sharpening. I do a pass of sharpening first with the smart sharpen filter and then using a duplicated high pass layer.  All and all the total edit was under 15 minutes.
