Since I switched to a Really Right Stuff ballhead and l-plate on my d810 I have really taken to shooting in the portrait orientation. It’s a fantastic feeling not having to worry about your equipment ruining the shot. In my case, with previous ballheads, more often than not the head would slip just enough during long exposures to add a motion blur. Now I never have that problem and I’m loving being able to think about the scene in that way.
