I love the fact that there is no crazy light pollution directly behind Frontierland. It really lets the stars shine through and help complete the frontier feel of the shots from this area. It just would not work as well if you had a huge light pollution glow behind the mountains.

Today's shot is another favorite spot of mine, especially during sunset. I always seem to get some awesome glow as the sun sets behind Splash Mountain. I did do a few things slightly different for this shot. First, I put my tripod on top of a trashcan to get some extra height and clear the fence [...]

Splash into the Night

I haven't done a Splash Mountain photo in a while and it has been especially a long time since I did a night time version. This is your standard straight on view but one I feel never tires. It's a fantastic spot for a photo. Fortunately, the sky was quite clear over Splash and I was [...]

Every trip to Disney World thousands of photos. Of these probably 30-40% are dark ride photos. For some reason though I end up sharing very few of them so I keep asking myself why I’m even bothering to shoot all those photos if I’m never going to share them. Well I’m going to try and change [...]

Splash Mountain is another one of those spots that I always have to shoot even though I have many photos already. It doesn’t hurt it’s an absolutely fantastic spot for some sunset photos as well. I always get at least 1 sunset shot of it if not more during my visit. […]

Frontierland Railroad Station

I always have trouble naming shots like this where they are multiple elements of different things in a single shot. You have the entrance to Splash Mountain as well as the Frontierland Railroad Station but I opted to just name it after the station as that's really what the photo is mostly of. Ultimately it doesn't [...]

An Epic Splash Mountain

The area around Splash Mountain is always a really great spot for sunset shots and so I always try to chase the sun to this area when shooting sunset in the Magic Kingdom. Even though the area remains the same, each sunset is different and makes each shot unique. Still I wanted to try one other [...]

Splash Mountain Out of the Light & Into the Darkness

Every once in a while I'll try something different with my editing in an effort to break up the sameness and today's photo is representative of that. When I started working on this shot it was clear from the beginning using my standard editing procedure would have less than stellar results. I spent a bit first [...]

Splash into the Sun

We were actually rushing past here to make it to Splash Mountain for our fastpasses when the light coming through the trees caught my attention. This was just a quick 3 shot handheld bracket but is one of my favorites of the trip. I think this stand is new or I have the worst memory ever, [...]

Everybody’s Got a Laughin’ Place

This shot has been a nemesis of mine over the years. I've tried numerous times and always came away with a shot that just wasn't quite there. Ultimately I think something like the 85 1.4g would be the best lens for this shot but I made due with the 70-200 2.8 instead. he looks I got [...]
