I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan for a long time now. So of course I’m super stoked for the new Star Wars land coming to Hollywood Studios. While Star Tours is a fine ride there’s really not a lot from a photography stand point. I am really looking forward to being able to photograph an entire Star Wars land. I just hope they get the site lines right so it can be truly immersive. Something about a big balloon with Kermit on it in the background of Tatooine Traders kills the immersion.
Shooting & Editing Star Tours: AT-AT & the Forest Moon of Endor
This was shot with the Nikon D810 and Nikon 70-200 2.8. I wanted to get a tight shot of the AT-AT as I already had a wide shot of Star Tours. While that is fine you can obviously tell its a ride. With this shot I like the fact this could totally be an AT-AT on the Forest Moon of Endor. For this shot too I was especially thankful for the shadow boosting capabilities of the Nikon camera. This shot was very dark even at 15 seconds. I had a 30 second shot that was a bit brighter but the trees were much blurrier from wind. I was able to boost this shot nearly 2 stops to get the desired brightness without destroying the shot with noise.
