I absolutely love taking photos with water on the ground. Alas, there was to be no rain during my visit to Disneyland (I wonder if I’m the only one going to the parks hoping for an epic downpour?). When I realized Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission:Breakout! was perfectly centered to reflect in the water play area in Bugs Land I got pretty excited.
There is one small problem with using a jumping water fountain as your shooting area. The water jumps and splashes on and around me spraying water onto the lens. Between shots I would simply use my rocket blower to blow over the large droplets and then wipe it off with a micro-fiber. This proved to work out well enough once I found a spot the water jumped to every 30 seconds or so. This was especially important for my 30 second exposure used in the base blend of this shot.
Disappointingly it’s not a perfect mirror reflection like you can get when you have a good amount of water pooling up, but I’ll take any water reflections I can get. The fact I was able to capture a few stars to go along with it is just icing on the cake.
